I own and use three other stove-top espresso makers; a 9-cup Bialetti, a 9-cup Forever, a 6-cup Forever, in addition to the 9-cup Cuisaid. The Cuisaid is the least well-made of the three brands and produces the least flavorful coffee. Even though I've "broken it in" by using it a number of times and have allowed a nice build-up of oils, it is still inferior to the Bialetti and Forever brands. For the money, it gets the job done but my advice is to spend a few extra bucks and get the Forever brand. If you're a real coffee aficionado, fork out the money and go with the Bialetti. The Bialetti and Forever brands are made in Italy and the Cuisaid is a Chinese knock-off. I'm not sure what metal is used in the Cuisaid brand but side by side tests on the stove show that it heats in the same amount of time as the other, better brands.

Makes a great espresso. However when the description says 9 cups it means espresso shots not 9 cups american standard measurement.

I have several French presses, an electric percolator, a Zojirushi electric drip maker with a thermal carafe, a Chemex, and more than one stove top espresso maker. (I even have a pricey Krups pump espresso maker which I never use because it's a pain to maintain and takes up a lot of space.) I love coffee and go on jags. I'll make French Press everyday for a few weeks, get tired of it and switch to coffee with chickory in my percolator for a while, and then switch to espresso. I probably use a stovetop espresso maker more than anything else.I bought this one because I needed a larger one for entertaining. It works perfectly, but it is definitely cheaply made. If you want a largish stove top espresso maker for daily use, I'd buy a better one, perhaps even a stainless steel one. But, this one will make as good a pot of espresso as any stovetop maker out there. I expect this one will last me many years for occasional use.I have a 2 cup and a 4 cup. I use one of them on the days I'm in an espresso mood. So, I bought more expensive models. One's a Bialetti and one I bought in Italy and have never seen for sale in the USA. I use them regularly and they have held up well over the years. Here are a couple of tips for using this type of espresso maker:1. Don't just turn the stove on high and blast away. Use a more moderate heat. It takes a few moments longer, but you're less likely to boil the coffee in the top which will make it bitter.2. Never, ever put an aluminum espresso maker in the dishwasher. In fact, just wash it out with plain water and don't use any soap on it all. Don't use any abrasive cleaning utensil or steel wool. Aluminum is soft, it will discolor and pit - especially when it comes in contact with dishwasher detergent.3. You can put milk in the top and then make your coffee. The coffee maker will heat the milk and you end up with a great cafe-au-lait (although, cafe-au-lait is usually made with a dark roast such as French or Italian roast rather than with espresso coffee.)
